Visit the best attractions and activities in or near Newbury and do so by looking up the wealth of things to do in the area. There are recreational activities and things to do as well as the great shopping and restaurants offered in the town. The town has the Kennet running through it and alongside the river is its great setting in which to take in the surrounding setting.
The West Berkshire region is in fact one of great beauty and one which is well worth a visit for a day out. With so many places to visit in Berkshire, you can easily forget you’re right on London’s doorstep. A wealth of towns, villages and countryside to explore make this county the perfect antidote to city life. Newbury has a fresh, rural atmosphere combined with great shopping facilities and new attractions. It also has the museum running adjacent to the Kennet which too is well worth a visit should you be visiting the town on a day out in Newbury.
In October 2011 the town became an even more attractive shopping destination with the opening of Parkway, an open street development in the heart of the town. Here, there are a number of the major high street retailers as well as John Lewis, the flagship retailer. The Corn Exchange arts centre provides a wide variety of entertainment and Vue cinema is also close by, offering a great alternative to the retail offering in the town.
The countryside surrounding Newbury is part of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Kennet and Avon Canal runs right through the district from the outskirts of Reading to Hungerford. This offers a very scenic and beautiful setting and one well worth seeing and taking in should you be in the area. This is very much a town with a great deal to offer to anyone looking to visit the town and appreciate all of which it has to offer.
